THE DAY'S JOURNEY

As soon as we left Couldon Court, petrol was required. 1907 is doing so many miles more filling is unexpectedly needed. Once done, all get underway following the A46 until it intersects with
the A1. Eventually we stop for the obligatory 30 minute lunch and then off we go again. The car is making outstanding progress and even though we haven't quite got to Newark yet, Steve is confident we shall make our overnight stop near Selby. He is quite happy to drive on, but his arm is beginning to ache from all the chummy waving we feel obliged to reciprocate to fellow travellers! I suggest we take it in turns! As this is the modern age, I receive a text from David warning us that there is 5.2mm of rain expected at 4pm. We are not deterred. Up until now we have been going down our very own 'yellow brick road' where the sun shines, but outside our corridor is rain! In Steve's own words he would like you all to know that he has had 3 showers today: a light dusting on the A1, a heavy shower (the kind with those modern 'rain' heads) on the A614 and a third one at the campsite! So, it's squeaky clean Steve tonight! At last we got Steve to stop driving ( I think Ian thought only running out of petrol would do it) and we have parked up by a fishimg lake in a campsite in Balne. 1907 has done over 130 miles today - and we are beginning to worry about speeding tickets!
